Behavior Training {1:1 Training Sessions}
Modifying unacceptable behaviors using positive reinforcement and education in individualized training sessions tailored to the dog's issues and the family's needs. Working as a team to build a behavior plan for consistent follow through and favorable outcome.
We offer both in-home training, and in-academy training (our facility).
Obedience Training {1:1 sessions and Group classes}
Addresses basic manners and acceptable behaviors including walking on a leash, waiting at doorways, sitting and laying down as well as coming when called.With the use of reward and consistency to form a trusting bond of understanding between canine and handler.
Puppy Socialization {Group classes}
Highly recommend for anyone struggling with their dog's behavior!"
AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification {Group Class}
This is an advanced level obedience an socialization class with an AKC certification exam as the final. Previous class experience is recommended. Minimum age of 19 weeks. 6 week class.
AKC STAR Puppy Certification {Group Class}
Starting certification for puppies for socialization and starting off on the right paw towards becoming a good canine citizen. Age requirement 18 weeks to 1 year. 6 week class.

My Story
Let me introduce myself. My name is Jody. To my four-legged friends who have visited me in the past, I am known Ms. Jody or the Treat Dealer. I started Manners Matter as a dream of mine, a way to meld many of my passions together. My lifelong love of dogs, along with my past experience in caregiving and education, gave me the well-rounded background I needed to pursue this journey. The path has been incredibly rewarding and heartwarming. The most fulfilling part for me is witnessing the relationship, understanding, and trust grow between owner and dog. I am planning on continuing this voyage of ensuring positive outcomes and enriching relationships for all those who attend Manners Matter Canine Training Academy!

After a good meet and greet at the shelter we brought home a new dog (Carson)home. Once home our current dog (Jazmin)decided she did didn't want the new dog in her house. Not knowing how to handle it we reached out to Jody and in 2 days she was at our house accessing our situation, 2 more days later our 1st private training session. At the start Jazmin acted like she wanted to eat Carson and I wasn't convinced it would work but by the end of an hour with Jody they were laying on opposite sides of a gate taking treats. We left hopeful and followed Jody's instructions daily and with slow and constant training and 4 total private sessions we have made great strides.
